The lodge guarantees wallaby and possum sightings, and enjoys regular visits from platypuses, Tasmanian devils, wombats and quolls.  It has unrivalled guided fly-fishing in its pristine fish full-lakes, of which there are 30 within a short drive, along with six mountain streams. Each room in the original 1930s lodge has been individually restored by Tasmanian craftsmen, with bespoke Tasmanian furniture and decadent Art Deco bathrooms.
Its piece de resistance is a dramatic cliff top spa with breathtaking views across the wilderness made up of mountains, densely wooded valleys, lake and streams, best enjoyed from the cedar hot tubs – a real treat at night when the stars are out in the unpolluted southern skies.

The lodge’s award-winning Wildside restaurant serves the freshest local delicacies from the island’s acclaimed natural produce, such as Tasmanian scallops or Highland loin of lamb with black mushrooms. The wine cellar is bursting with over 300 wines including many by Tasmania’s boutique wineries, and its collection of 200 malt whiskies is unmatched throughout the southern hemisphere.

Rates start from AU$395 per person per night, which includes a four-course gourmet dinner at the Wildside Restaurant, a pre-dinner glass of Tarraleah’s own label wine, a cooked-to-order breakfast and use of the cliff top spa, excluding treatments.  

The Lodge at Tarraleah is ideally located for visitors planning a self drive tour of Tasmania.  It is a comfortable two hour drive from the capital city of Hobart, and approximately half way to the west coast village of Strahan, gateway to the west coast rainforest.
It can also be accessed by light plane or helicopter.
