From early December take an entertaining and informative guided tour around various areas of Sullivan’s
Cove by podcast. The Museum’s audio podcast offers an opportunity to discover the history of the buildings on the Tasmanian
Museum and Art Gallery site. Taking you around the outside of the buildings, it explains when and why they
were built and the role they played in the early days of European settlement in Tasmania. Tasmanians’ connection with Antarctica goes back millions of years and Hobart holds a pre-eminent place
among Antarctica’s ‘gateway cities.’ The Polar Pathways tour is a way to learn about the history of Antarctic
exploration and to hear stories of great heroism. From the establishment of European settlement on Hunter Island in 1804, to a whaling port, to an industrial
port, then to being the home of Hobart’s cultural and civic space, Sullivan’s Cove has changed enormously
over time. Be transported through time and place, and explore the diversity of this heritage through the
