Hobart's Peacock Theatre in the Salamanca Arts Centre was the location for the announcement of the three joint winners of the inaugural Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air (BOFA) Film Festival's 'Essence of Tasmania' short film competition.

From over twenty short films entered the judging panel awarded 3 primary prizes and additionally commendations to four films.


Winners were announced by Tasmania’s Minister for Tourism, Scott Bacon MP and prize money of $5000 was awarded to the three joint winners.


He said the competition was intended to generate an innovative series of short films for Tourism Tasmania to use as part of its marketing activities.


Audio Network Australia generously sponsored the competition making sound clips available for free use by entrants.

With over 20 short films received in the first year of the short film competition, word is sure to get out to film-makers from Australia and worldwide about the second year of this exciting competition.
