When Australian Formula One driver Mark Webber sought the perfect stage for his premier adventure race, he realised Tasmania required no adaptation. The arena was set. Ancient peaks and tumbling rivers offered a natural obstacle course of sheer delight.
Competitors kayak, ride and trek their way across Tasmania, covering more than 250 kilometres for Australian charity organisations. But when they toe the starting line on November 19, the adventure is not restricted to competitors alone.
Design your own discovery path across Tasmania through temperate rainforest and along pristine waterways. With more than 2000 kilometres of walking tracks, lace up your boots and enjoy hearty gourmet food as you venture along the Overland Track, regarded as one of the world’s greatest alpine walks.
For adrenalin seekers, hop on a mountain bike descent from the pinnacle of Mount Wellington to Hobart’s bustling waterfront below, abseil down the world’s highest commercial abseil or fly above the treetops on a Cable Hang Gliding venture. If the sparkling east coast is more your style, follow the remote bush tracks on a four-wheel motorbike tour and be rewarded with sweeping coastal views.
Be lured by the wild personality of Tasmania’s west, from windswept ocean beaches to impenetrable ancient rainforest. Take a scenic flight into the heart of Tasmania’s South West Wilderness followed by an intimate meeting with the Franklin River aboard a kayak or river raft. Let the current set the pace while you experience thrilling rapids and tranquil gorges.
Choose from a range of inspiring island experiences to chart your own exciting holiday in Tasmania. Let the spirit of adventure guide you!
